Wood provides consulting and EPCM services for clients across the global pulp and paper industry.
Wood is currently recruiting for an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with experience in Pulp & Paper engineering/design projects for our Forest Industries business in Vancouver, Canada.
The Wood Process & Energy business performs consulting and EPCM services for Canada’s Pulp & Paper, Power Generation and Municipal projects. After more than 80 years, Wood’s Vancouver office continues to provide professional engineering and construction services to the Pulp & Paper industry across Canada and the USA; as well as Globally.

Work within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the industry
Prepare calculations in accordance with the relevant Wood, Canadian and International Standards
Sizing and selection of control valves (severe service), flow elements, instrumentation and other I&C equipment.
Design of industrial control system applications, process control strategy and control logic designs.
Work in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision
Perform vendor document review and approval
Perform within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
Work within a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers and Designers
Perform scheduling and resource planning for the project discipline team
Skills / Qualifications:
Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, along with the ability to register as a B.C. Professional Engineer
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Pulp and/or Paper engineering projects as a Client, Supplier or Consultant
Proven experience in Control system specifications and control system architecture design, and implementation of Industrial communications protocols
Demonstrated experience with I&C engineering database software tools(AVEVA, SPI, etc) is considered an asset
Ability to provide technical leadership for projects related to the forest industry
Experience with data-centric/integrated engineering environments an asset
Written and oral use of conversational and technical English
Ability to work out of the office on client sites independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment with minimal supervision
Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
