Westpark Daycare Centre is seeking highly committed and passionate Early Childhood Assistants for our Toddler, Preschool program.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and developing program plan in line with children's interests. Programming must be child directed and teacher supported in accordance with "How Does Learning Happen?"
- Support children with emotional, physical, or behavioral problems and help develop their social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills
- Provide support for children in the classroom and enable them to fully participate in activities
- Daily reporting and record keeping - attendance, allergy, medication, communication logs
- Maintain up-to-date emergency cards, attendance, and health and safety checks
- Work with professionals, such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as necessary
- Support children through transitions in and out of the classrooms, program reporting.
- Manage and maintain an orderly classroom - follow cleaning schedules and room routines
- Participate and interact in team meetings and workshops
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with children, coworkers, and parents
- Supportive attitude and ability to provide emotional, physical, and/or behavioral support to children
- Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail
- Strong collaborator and team player
- Ability to take initiative in and out of the classroom
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proactive in relation to health and safety
Qualifications
- Formal training in Early Childhood Education from a recognized College or University
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (within the last six months)
