Job Summary
Plains Constructors Canada Ltd. is looking for experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing construction team. We are currently hiring experienced Excavator Operators for civil construction, earthworks, culvert installation, grading, and general site work.
We are looking for operators who take pride in their work, operate equipment safely and efficiently, and are comfortable working as part of a construction crew. Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment is considered a strong asset.
Job Duties
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently on civil construction sites
- Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling
- Assist with culvert installation and related earthwork
- Load and move soil, gravel, rock, and other materials
- Work around underground utilities and other site hazards
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report any deficiencies
- Follow project specifications and direction from supervisors
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other crew members
- Assist with general site duties when required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety and environmental procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous excavator operating experience required
- Experience in civil construction, earthworks, grading, or culvert installation is considered an asset
- Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, or other equipment is a strong asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment around workers, vehicles, utilities, and other equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and willing to work in varying weather and site conditions
- Ability to work out of town when required
Work Location
Work may include both Edmonton-area/in-town projects and out-of-town projects throughout Alberta, depending on project requirements.
Out-of-town work may require extended stays away from home. Living Out Allowance (LOA) is provided for eligible out-of-town work.
PPE
Required PPE will be provided by Plains Constructors. Employees are responsible for providing their own CSA-approved work boots.
