Property Maintenance Technician

We own and manage a growing portfolio of rental properties across Ottawa. Everything is either newly built or fully renovated, with finishes you'd want to put your name on. We're a small team, we move fast, and we're looking for one more person who takes their work seriously.
The role is a mix of maintenance technician and building superintendent. You'll be the person who keeps our properties in shape: turning units between tenants, handling repairs, running preventative maintenance, and managing trades when a job is bigger than one person.
What the day-to-day looks like:
- Turning units to rent-ready condition, usually within one to three days depending on scope
- Carpentry, drywall, painting, and minor plumbing and electrical repairs
- Regular walkthroughs of the buildings to catch problems while they're still small and cheap to fix
- Responding to tenant maintenance requests promptly and keeping records of work completed
- Booking and supervising plumbers, electricians, and other trades, and checking their work.
What we're looking for:
- Hands-on construction experience. You understand how a building goes together, so you can figure out why something failed instead of patching the symptom.
- Someone who works well without much supervision. We'll tell you what needs doing; how you get there is largely up to you.
- Clear, prompt communication with tenants. Our residents pay for well-kept homes and we treat their requests that way.
- A valid driver's licence. The properties are spread across the city.
Pay and terms:
- $60,000 to $70,000 salary, depending on experience
- Paid on-call stipend for after-hours emergency coverage, adding roughly $5,000 per year
- Vehicle / mileage allowance
- Full-time, permanent
