Position Summary
The Dental Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service while coordinating administrative and scheduling activities. The role involves managing appointments, maintaining patient records, processing insurance information, and supporting the dental team to ensure an efficient and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer telephone calls, emails, and other inquiries promptly.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
- Register new patients and update existing patient records.
- Verify dental insurance coverage and explain benefits to patients.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Collect payments and process billing transactions.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and electronic records.
- Send appointment reminders and follow-up communications.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with dentists and hygienists.
- Manage recall systems and contact patients due for routine care.
- Handle referrals and request or forward dental records when required.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Assist with general administrative duties such as filing, scanning, and preparing reports.
Qualifications
- Must have 3+ years of previous dental experience.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures.
- Familiarity with dental practice management software (preferred Cleardent)
- Understanding of dental insurance plans and claim submission processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independantly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
