Customs Clearance and Compliance Consultant
DH Customs Broker is a commercial and licensed custom brokerage company, offering customs clearance services for all ports into Canada and some in the United States. Our customers range from large e-commerce clients, to small and medium sized companies with unique import needs. We offer customized solutions that includes all modes of transport, such as air, rail, ocean, courier and trucks.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Customs Clearance and Compliance Consultant. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods across international borders. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of customs regulations, trade compliance, and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customs Clearance Management:
- Manage and coordinate the customs clearance process for imports and exports, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to customs authorities.
- Liaison with CBSA agents to resolve any issues, or concern with shipments.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and tariffs to ensure compliance with local and international trade laws.
2. Compliance Oversight:
- Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure adherence to all relevant import and export regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with customs laws and regulations and address any discrepancies.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as procurement, logistics, and finance to streamline customs processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Provide guidance to teams on customs compliance matters and ensure awareness of changes in regulations.
4. Documentation Management:
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate and complete customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin etc.
- Ensure that all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner to avoid delays in customs clearance.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks related to customs compliance and work proactively to mitigate these risks.
- Implement and monitor effective control measures to prevent and address compliance issues.
6. Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate team members and relevant stakeholders on customs compliance best practices.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the customs clearance and compliance function.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- A valid CCS Certificate.
- Proven experience in customs clearance and compliance management, preferably in a managerial or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
