Seeking an experienced hot applied waterproofer to join our small team. Compensation based on experience. Our shop is in Schomberg.
Must have:
-2+ years of bitumen tar waterproofing experience
-valid working at heights certification
-reliable transport and clean driving abstract (will be requested)
We are primarily a demolition and excavation sub-trade though we are looking to grow. Most of the work is restoration oriented. Experience running heavy equipment, large concrete cutting saws and concrete finishing considered an asset though not necessary. The ideal candidate would ideally be someone with a background in commercial waterproofing who is interested in expanding their skillset.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Hot Applied Waterproofer to join our construction team. This role involves applying waterproofing materials to protect structures from water damage, ensuring durability and longevity. The ideal candidate will have experience with construction-related tasks, possess strong attention to detail, and be capable of working in a physically demanding environment. Prior experience with hand tools, carpentry, and blueprint reading is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to high-quality building solutions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and ensuring proper adhesion for waterproofing application
- Mix and apply hot-applied waterproofing materials using appropriate tools and techniques
- Utilize hand tools such as trowels, brushes, and rollers for precise application
- Follow project blueprints and technical specifications to ensure correct placement and coverage
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely during application processes
- Conduct inspections to verify proper waterproofing coverage and identify any defects or issues
- Assist with related construction tasks such as caulking, sealing, or minor carpentry work as needed
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste properly
- Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools commonly used in waterproofing and construction tasks
- Experience in construction or carpentry is preferred
- Knowledge of caulking techniques and waterproofing materials
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and extended periods of standing or working at heights
- Handyman experience is a plus, demonstrating versatility across various trades
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions effectively

Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
