ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The QA/QC Inspector role is primarily located in Vancouver, BC and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality project delivery within our BC Utilities Division. Travel to various site locations would be necessary based on operation requirements.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the consistent application of quality standards by overseeing both field and office operations. Working closely with project teams, you will provide expert guidance, support, and oversight to promote accurate, timely, and effective quality management practices ensuring quality standards are upheld. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative setting and is committed to driving excellence across all phases of project execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that all QA and QC activities are understood and implemented according to company and client standards

Develop, implement and manage all aspects of quality assurance within the Region

Educate and provide recommendations to regional leadership with regards to quality management improvements

Continuously monitor activities for deviations from specification and ensure deviations are addressed appropriately

Develop and monitor, in conjunction with Operations, the execution of project quality plans and documents, including compliance by subcontractors

Liaise with Purchasing and Operations to establish quality requirements and ensure that suppliers and sub-contractors are rated as to their ability to conform

Communicate and coordinate to ensure all customer concerns regarding quality are addressed efficiently and effectively

Actively assist staff in identifying potential improvements to procedures and approaches to the work from a quality control prospective

Work with other managers and staff to identify and deliver quality orientations and training needs

Gather information pertaining to any quality-related concerns to identify issues, consult, problem solve, provide solutions for issues and implement best course of actions

Drive continuous improvement and zero defects through quality plans and processes

Write and maintain various formal quality management documents such as manuals, policies, procedures, plans, checklists and records appropriate to existing and emerging regulator, client and internal needs

Minimize deficiencies and reworks through setting clearly defined quality targets

Comply with customer's quality management system

Interface with regulators and client auditors as required, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards and client specifications and the execution of corrective actions in order to maintain quality program registrations

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Degree of Diploma in:
o Civil / Electrical Engineering or Technologist, or Construction Management or
o Red Seal Journeyman with 2+ years of office experience
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5-7 years of QA/QC Experience in implementing Quality Programs and interfacing with client(s)

5-7 years in a similar QA/QC Inspector role
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Familiarity with industry standard necessary to carry out QA/QC works

Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with commitment to excellence and high-quality work

Knowledge and experience with site safety procedures, including electrical safety standards

Proven experience MS Office (Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel)
The following certifications/designations are considered assets:
- Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes, CSA, and ASTM codes

Quality Inspector Certification (ASQ)

Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)

Experience preparing final turnover packages for clients, including collecting O&M manuals, test reports, as‑built documentation, and other closeout deliverables
Construction Safety Certifications including the following are considered assets:
- Confined Space Awareness/Rescue

Fall Arrest
-
WHMIS
-
First Aid
-
Ground Disturbance Certification
The expected annual salary range for this role is between $85,000 and $100,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package.
