About the Role
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Help Desk Specialist provides technical support and systems administration to ensure the reliable operation of Fastik's IT infrastructure and business systems. This role supports employees across our global organization by delivering timely, professional service while administering Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and end-user technologies. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, technically proficient, and committed to delivering exceptional support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line technical support by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, Microsoft 365, and network-related issues.
- Monitor and manage support requests to ensure timely resolution and excellent customer service.
- Administer user accounts, security groups, and system access within Active Directory and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint).
- Configure, deploy, and maintain workstations, monitors, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Maintain IT asset inventories, equipment lifecycle records, and spare hardware.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and contribute to the internal knowledge base.
- Deliver user training and guidance on IT systems and best practices.
- Participate in IT projects and identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and user experience.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required.
- Collaborate with global team members and participate in IT team meetings.
- Follow company security and privacy policies, helping maintain secure, reliable, and compliant IT services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar technical role.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint) and Active Directory.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, hardware support, and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to support users at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Batch, or Bash) is considered an asset.
- Understanding of email administration and mail flow/troubleshooting.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to work onsite.
Work Environment
This role is based in manufacturing and office environment and supports employees across multiple departments in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. The position requires regular interaction with end users, balancing technical support requests, systems administration, and project work while adapting to changing business priorities. Occasional after-hours support may be required for planned maintenance or critical business needs.
