Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join their team in Calgary, Alberta. This position provides legal administrative and litigation support in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing legal documents, maintaining accurate files, and supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the practice.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and legal support to two lawyers in an employment law and litigation practice.
Prepare, edit, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, agreements, and pleadings.
Coordinate court filings and ensure compliance with deadlines and filing procedures.
Maintain physical and electronic files and track matters throughout the litigation process.
Manage calendars, meetings, and key deadlines.
Update and maintain case information in legal software, including Accumen.
Handle scanning, photocopying, document management, and other administrative tasks while maintaining confidentiality.
3+ years' experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, with a strong litigation background.
Experience in independently managing a broad range of legal support responsibilities.
Knowledge of litigation procedures, court filings, pleadings, and document preparation for employment or commercial litigation.
Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Aderant, CompuLaw, case management software, and document scanning tools.
Excellent written communication skills, including drafting, editing, and formatting legal and business documents.
