Intern - Corporate Finance - Accounting

This internship will provide the candidates with an opportunity to experience how corporate finance and accounting can affect decisions for the company. Assignments will be tailored to develop the intern’s technical accounting, critical thinking, collaboration and communications skills. In addition, the intern will play an instrumental role in the planning and execution of major department projects such as accounting systems integration and process improvement.

The incumbent will report directly to the Director, Corporate Finance and work with the Corporate Finance Accounting team supporting both core accounting tasks and department projects. Key responsibilities will include:

Transaction processing and journal entries using the G/L
Financial reconciliation, analysis and management reporting
Process and controls documentation
Leveraging technology to streamline current workflows
Improving data flows through innovative solutions e.g. SharePoint
Project documentation such as business requirements, issues and decision logs, and stakeholder training and presentations
This position is a four-month internship starting in September and ending in December 2019, and will r equire the Intern to work Monday to Friday, on a 35-hour workweek. There is a possibly of extending the internship upto eight months.

Pre-requisites:
University Student currently enrolled in Under-graduate or Graduate Business or Accounting programs
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required
A strong team player
Proficient in Word, Advanced Excel (e.g. pivot tables), PowerPoint, Lotus Notes
Ability to work independently, problem-solve, take initiative and use good judgment
Able to work effectively in rapidly changing or ambiguous situations
Strong organizational skills
Experience in a corporate office environment is highly desired
Previous co-op experience a plus
