Connex Personnel is currently recruiting for the role of Contract Completions Engineer for a local oil and gas client.
The Contract Completions Engineer works within a team comprised of internal staff, engineering contractors, service contractors and the Atlantic Region Operations and SSDCI teams to ensure Atlantic Region well delivery objectives are achieved. Reports to the Manager, Completions & Intervention Engineering in the Atlantic Region, Subsurface Drilling Completions Interventions Department.
Responsible for development of all technical deliverables with respect to the planning, scheduling, design and financial aspects of Atlantic Region Completion and Intervention related operations.
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Well Completion design/planning for platform wells in accordance with C-NLOER regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Developing well specific completion programs to meet the well delivery objectives.
- Liaise with platform construction and operational teams to manage interfaces and ensure successful operation.
- Well integrity oversight and completion engineering support to evaluate well integrity issues and response.
- Specification and procurement of well equipment, inventory management oversight and verification.
- Provide shore-based support to offshore well operations; with periodic offshore site visits as required
- Maintain detailed well planning, construction, and operational records in accordance document management protocols.
- Compiling regulatory and well license related documentation (approvals, end of well reports, etc.)
- Developing and monitoring time and cost estimates for completion programs.
- Assisting accounting staff in the administration of invoicing and cost control for ongoing operations.
- Development and/or revision of management system documentation including but not limited to design standards, operating procedures, policies, etc.
- Evaluation and recommendation of technologies to enhance design and operations cost efficiencies.
- Providing oversight of equipment preparation and loadouts in contractor facilities, post-job and failure analysis, documentation and integration best practices and learnings into future operations
- Conducting technical and commercial reviews of vendor proposals to ensure the most technically sound and cost
- Support Bid Tenders and Negotiations (EOI, ITB, Contract T&C’s) to support the contracted well services/equipment selection.
- Mentoring of Junior Engineering Staff and Engineering Co-op Students.
- Participating on Emergency Response Team, which may include the requirement to carry a pager/cell phone and be on call, as required.
Education/Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with PEGNL
- 10+ years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, with a knowledge of well planning and all aspects of completion well design and operations
Assets
- Well planning software including Landmark (WellCat and Well Plan software)
- Excellent computer and relevant software skills; oral and written communication skills
- Exposure and working knowledge of @Risk software and probabilistic time estimation techniques
- Experience with intervention planning and operations on platform wells.
- ESP planning and design, intelligent well and advanced completion design
- Horizontal and extended reach well design and operational experience
- Exposure and experience with non-drilling functional scopes, such as reservoir and production engineering, integrity engineering
- Experience that includes exposure to an offshore and/or harsh weather subsea and platform development environment.
- Knowledge of current Cenovus Atlantic Region operations, and offshore activities in the Jeanne D’Arc Basin in general.
