The Opportunity

The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for the work demands of the healthcare sector across Alberta, Canada and abroad. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management and training for wellness professionals. Our instructors and staff are a dynamic and motivated team of professionals committed to the success of our students and the promise of an industry-ready education.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Academic Chair Diagnostic Imaging is a management-level position which manages the Diagnostic Imaging portfolio operations, personnel and activities related to program, departmental and institutional strategic goals and initiatives, including though not limited to; Student Success (driving outcomes of the SAIT Education Plan), Sustainable Growth, Employee Success, Applied Education Innovation, Partnerships. The Academic Chair is responsible for managing the Diagnostic Imaging programs, related staff members and resources associated with the program. These Duties must all be executed within SAIT Procedures and Guidelines, Deans’ Council directives, Association and/or Union Agreements, and according to proper labour practices. SAIT’s stated Ethical Principles and values must be considered at all times and in accordance with SAIT Policies and Procedures.

The Role

Work as a contributing member of a collaborative leadership team to strategically manage, grow and strengthen our programs
Lead academic excellence in the areas of teaching, research, curriculum, credentials, accreditation, articulation and innovation
Optimize the student experience through management of learner satisfaction, enrollment and internationalization/diversity opportunities
Develop, maintain, and grow connections with external stakeholders in industry
Support stakeholder and market focus through new program and growth opportunities and enhancing graduate employment rates
Work in a collaborative team with other Academic Chairs in the school to manage, grow and strengthen our programs.
Manage administration requirements, including budgeting, forecasting, recruiting faculty and students, assigning teaching duties, etc.
Liaise with other internal stakeholders.
Develop and implement strategies for employee engagement.
Manage revenues and expenses against budget and take appropriate action to increase revenue and maintain program costs.
Qualifications

Must hold a relevant education in a Diagnostic Imaging related modality. Preference given to a post-graduate degree.
Minimum of seven years’ relevant industry experience in Diagnostic Imaging, including a broad understanding of current and emerging trends.
Registered with the Alberta College Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or be eligible for registration.
Experience with curriculum development, distributed learning and adult education are considered assets.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in teaching or curriculum design at the post-secondary level.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective and engaging relationships with students, faculty, academic chairs, support staff, senior executives and industry representatives.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and time management skills.
Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
Additional educational qualifications and imaging credentials/certificates is an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
