JOB SUMMARY: The Programming Assistant reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Manager, Maternal Child and Youth Health.
The Programming Assistant’s role is to assist a multidisciplinary team of providers with operational and administrative tasks in a manner consistent with vision, mission, and values of Six Nations Health Services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school Education/GED completed.
- Minimum 1-3 years of working with children/youth.
- Interest and/or experience working in group projects that require teamwork.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Must pass a criminal records/vulnerable sector check.
- Open to working weekday evenings to support programming.

POSITION DESCRIPTION – WELLBEING
POSITION TITLE: Programming Assistant
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Programming Assistant reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Manager, Maternal Child and Youth Health.
PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
To assist a multidisciplinary team of providers with operational and administrative tasks in a manner consistent with vision, mission, and values of Six Nations Health Services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Functions:
- Responsible for the completion of a variety of tasks including development of materials and planning activities for children and youth.
- Participation and support for community events, groups, camps, and therapy sessions.
- Supporting with childcare during programs when needed
- Support with administrative duties including phone coverage, tracking inventory, and organizing the office.
- Involvement in working groups including the events committee and green team.
- Regular attendance at monthly team meetings, and program-specific meetings when necessary
Communications Functions:
- Effectively communicates with members of the team with regular updates on tasks and projects.
- Communicate with children, youth, and families with compassion, openness, and in a non-judgmental manner.
- Based on observations and experience supporting projects, communications of any identified barriers to child and youth well-being
Administrative Functions:
- Provides front desk coverage when needed.
- Effectively prioritizing multiple tasks based on given deadlines.
- Completes work logs and project tracking sheets to organize workload.
- Prepares information required such as reports, briefing notes, updates, and correspondences.
Other Functions:
- Performs other job-related duties as may be required by Supervisor.
- Provides support to the Six Nations Emergency Measures Plan by ensuring awareness of the Emergency Measures Plan and assistance as instructed by the Director of Health Services.
- It is the responsibility of the employee to be aware of and adhere to all policies and procedures, including those that relate to client safety, staff safety and risk management.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
With the Supervisor of Child and Youth Health
Receives direction, guidance, and encouragement; discusses plans and priorities.
With Department Staff
Receives guidance around projects tasks. Liaises, cooperates, and provides encouragement, maintaining control through teamwork and direction.
With Other Staff
Maintains cooperation and consideration with all staff members.
With External Agencies
Represents and promotes Six Nations interests relative to Health Services; seeks to develop close working relationships.
With the Public
Represents and promotes the health service interests of Six Nations; works in a courteous, cooperative.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:

- Understands the importance of Confidentiality; Ability to work with tact and discretion.
- High level of computer skills – Microsoft Office – MS Word and Excel- CANVA
- Duties may include travel; valid driver’s license or access to a vehicle would be beneficial.
- First Aid and CPR certified preferred
- Safe Food Handling recommended.
IMPACT OF ERROR:
Errors in judgement and in the conduct of duties could lead to lose credibility, poor public relation, confusion, duplication of effort and misinformation being given to the Director of Health Services, Human Services Committee, Six Nations Elected Council, Government Agencies, and the public.
CONTROL:
Guiding principles set by the Health Services Department and Six Nations Elected Council. Works within the administrative policies and procedures established by the Six Nations Elected Council for the Health Services Department and other legislation provided by the respective governments.
