THE POSITION
We are currently seeking a senior professional to join our team as manager of biology-based project work. This is a full-time permanent position based in either Edmonton or Whitecourt.
Project responsibilities will include the development of landscape level ecological restoration programs focusing on lotic stream connectivity. Management of field personnel conducting ecological inventory work and site assessment project work including watercourse crossings, stream habitat restoration and linear restoration project work for caribou habitat programs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and will enjoy working with and mentoring junior professionals. The desired candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated ability to work with spatial data sets in a GIS environment;
- Knowledgeable in current best management practices and regulatory requirements for aquatic ecological restoration techniques and applications for the forest and energy sectors;
- Well versed with current regulatory practices regarding the Water Act, Fisheries Act and Public Lands Act;
- Greater than 5 years of field experience;
- University graduate degree in biological sciences;
- Professional Biologist in good standing with Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB).
