Junior Java Developer

What is the opportunity?

A key role within Wealth Management Technology & Solutions, Data and Analytics team. As a Junior Developer, you will have a unique opportunity to design & develop software solutions that capture data in real-time from a variety of sources and make data available programmatically to multiple stakeholders ranging from other IT applications to business teams to end customers. You will be working on cutting-edge technologies to solve problems of scale and speed. You will also get the opportunity to work with other technology and business teams and learn emerging technologies.

What will you do?

Development, maintenance of reusable data streaming solutions to support various initiatives ensuring adherence to overall solution direction
Construction and maintenance of robust and real-time data exchange solution using Kafka or other real-time technologies
Develop quality scalable, tested, and reliable data services using industry best practices
Proactive and reactive - Providing presentations of our real-time solutions, standards and approaches to different technology and business teams
Ideate and drive the real-time framework (and reusable aspects) which aligns to the overall data strategy and framework
Engagement in complex group meetings for technical design, decision making, problem solving, implementation, strategic planning, review and provide feedback on the work items performed by the team members
Work closely with the enterprise Kafka group to steer the real time discussions from data perspective

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:
3 years’ experience coding Java/J2EE and UNIX
Exposure to real-time streaming & processing transactions applications, and/or enterprise data integration solutions
Exposure to streaming solutions using any real-time application development tools/languages (JMS, MQ, Kafka/Java/Spark and other languages)
Experience in Optimization and Performance Tuning to develop high performance real time streaming application with proven background in testing, tracking and benchmarking
Good understanding of in-memory databases and how they operate
Ability to learn and acclimatize working on various new technologies

Nice to Have:
Exposure to Kafka (either from your practical exerience or academic courses)
Experience working with in-memory databases (MemSQL, SAP Hana) or NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Presto)
Working knowledge of tools in Ecosystem, security consideration, performance, all phase of projects including implementation
Experience with either Spark Streaming/Storm/Flume and other messaging systems
