We are looking for a savvy and hardworking team player for Whitby Hyperbarics and Wound Care.
As a Hyperbaric Technologist/Chamber Operator, you will be joining a team of compassionate health care providers seeking to positively impact the patients’ quality of life throughout their healing journey.
This is a full time, Monday through Friday, position with hourly compensation starting at $24 (salary negotiable based on level of experience) with performance based bonuses.
You will be responsible for administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to our patients under the supervision of both a Hyperbaric Physician and Safety Director. All therapeutic and diagnostic modalities will be ordered by the Hyperbaric Physician.
Details of the Position:
Details and responsibilities of a Hyperbaric Technologist/Chamber Operator include, but are not limited to:
- Safety of all the patients
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Hyperbaric Medicine
- Measures and obtains patient vital signs and necessary information such as blood glucose levels, patient’s weight, patient height as appropriate
- Monitor the health and safety of the patients while in the chamber
- Complete and maintain proper and accurate Patient Treatment/Diagnostic Records
- Complete Safety Consults, as appropriate and if delegated by Safety Director
- Cleaning Hyperbaric Chambers; equipment such as vital sign machines, thermometers, clinic chairs, etc.
- Completing laundry including washing, drying, folding
- Educate patient and/or patient's family as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy before treatment
- Clean and maintain the equipment according to infection control standards
- Maintain continuous quality improvement duties and chart audits
- Perform an inventory check, and maintain a record of supplies and laundry items
- Maintain equipment and check backup air and oxygen supplies on a daily basis
- Evaluate the patient outcome and meet with the manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment as necessary
- Consult with the hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic use of computers including MS Office applications
- Reliable Transportation
- BLS
Additional Information:
- Training will be provided
- A background related to the healthcare field or diving is preferred, but not required
- Experience as a Hyperbaric Chamber operator is an asset
