As a key member of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), the Project Manager will be responsible for managing and monitoring the implementation of strategic enterprise-wide initiatives that directly relate to the advancement of Ontario Health’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the Director, EPMO, the Project Manager will manage delivery of one or more workstreams within a large project or directly manage mid-sized projects autonomously. The Project Manager will hold primary responsibility for the planning, design and implementation of assigned projects.
As a lead resource within the EPMO the Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the work across multiple team members from across the organization to ensure timely project delivery, on budget and within scope. As risks, issues or new requirements arise, the Project Manager will carry out escalation processes and apply critical thinking and relationship management skills to devise multi-pronged mitigation plans that allow for successful completion of project objectives.
Here is what you will be doing:
Project Management
Lead the planning, design, implementation and smooth operationalization of OH strategic projects or workstreams within enterprise-wide projects
Steers projects to completion on time, within scope and on budget, by maintaining focused attention to the enabling factors that underpin the successful delivery of the project
Develop and manage detailed work plans, schedules, project budget estimates and resource plans required for successful project completion,
Work with cross-team SMEs to identify interdependencies between teams or with external partners
Monitor project execution to keep deliverables and milestones on track and on time and escalating to project sponsors and the Director when risks and issues are identified
Maintain rigor and ensure completion of comprehensive project control documentation throughout the project life cycle
Complete thorough and timely project analysis and reporting, aligning with EPMO standards
Management and Communication
Provide secretariate support to working groups and committees that oversee execution of the project
Independently and proactively prepare meeting materials (presentation, discussion documents, briefing notes, etc) to support action-oriented discussions
Participate in meetings with project sponsors and senior leadership to allow sufficient executive oversight on the project status
Support development of high-quality project documentation, including charters, business cases, detailed project plans and other related project management artifacts that clearly articulate the objectives, scope and targeted outcomes for the project
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Undergraduate Degree required, preferably in Business, Health, Administration, or another relevant discipline.
A Masters Level Degree in these fields would be an asset.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in project management or a strategy/planning role supporting and executing project delivery
Work experience in health care is a strong asset.
Knowledge and Skills
Proven experience supporting and managing strategic projects and initiatives within an organization
Proven experience turning ambiguous requirements into cogent project documentation (plans, charters, etc)
Strong verbal and written communication skills to present complex concepts clearly and effectively
Skilled in creating high quality, clear and succinct products (e.g., presentations, reports, briefing notes, workplans) for multiple internal and external audiences.
Experience with facilitating group discussions to support consensus and decision making.
Must be detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking, time management and organizational skills
Advanced MS Office proficiency and experience building Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint documents.
Knowledge of MS Sharepoint is an asset.
