Community Events Intern

Our Community Events Department is looking for a storyteller extraordinaire to tell the stories behind the genuine interactions that connect our passionate fans to their beloved teams. We are seeking an intern who considers themselves a digital savvy content writer who has a natural way with words. The successful candidate is someone who has demonstrated abilities of effective research skills and understands community engagement in sport.

What’s the Role?

The Community Events intern will report directly with the Community Events Coordinator and work within the Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Marketing Team to assist with the execution and covering of community events. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to write web-stories, social media posts and assist with other marketing efforts with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, Fury FC & 67’s.

What’s Needed?

  • Post-secondary education in journalism, communication, public relations, or a related field
  • Be in the process of completing an academic program that requires an internship or co-op credit
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills – bilingualism is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, writing and editing blogs and producing online content
  • Have a genuine interest in sports
  • Quick thinker with the ability to brainstorm creative and interesting content ideas on multiple platforms
  • Self-guided and self-motivated with a team mentality
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to flip between multiple tasks and genres of content.
  • Ability to work under a deadline
  • Be available for at least two to three days per week from September 2019 to April 2020.
