Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an Economic Development Officer to join our Economic Development department, supporting Business Retention & Expansion initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Retention & Expansion, this position supports business engagement, stakeholder relations, economic research, and initiatives that contribute to business growth, expansion, and a thriving local economy. The successful candidate will work closely with businesses, community partners, and internal stakeholders to support departmental, corporate, and Council priorities.
Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a field related to economic development, such as business, business administration, marketing, sales management, commercial real estate, land development, or land use planning, coupled with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in areas like economic development, sales, marketing, customer relationship management, or commercial/industrial development and/or commercial real estate. Alternatively, a 2-year Diploma in a related discipline, paired with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.

Certification(s) in economic development, land use planning, land development, real estate or project management would be considered an asset.

Membership(s) in Economic Development associations would be considered an asset.

Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with businesses, community partners, and government agencies.

Strong project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work

We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).

Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation

The salary ranges from $86,055.32 - $105,914.90 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a Flexible Spending Account and Pension Plan.
