Social Media Communications Coordinator
Reporting to the Corporate Communications Lead, the Social Media Communications Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and coordination of corporate and departmental social media platforms. Including monitoring all social media accounts, coordinating and tracking inquiries and responses, developing messaging and digital collateral (photos, graphics), producing/editing video and pod casts, and provides social media support to Council.
This position will develop Town’s social media strategy, including identifying trends, best practices, leading tactics as well as analyzing metrics and analytics in order to make recommendations to elevate and enhance the Town’s social media presence and reputation. This position is also responsible for the Town’s Social Media Policy.
Monitor and manage all corporate social media channels
Coordinate, track and respond to all customer inquiries. Including participating (commenting/responding) in community-based social media groups
Develop and coordinate social media campaigns for corporate, department and Council initiatives
Attend corporate and departmental events to provide live real-time social media coverage (includes evenings and weekends)
Provide support to Council Members, including corporate messaging, responding to inquiries, event coverage etc.
Provide social media training to staff & council
regularly report and analyze social media analytics and engagement statistics
Coordinate video content (ensure it meets AODA compliance)
Develop and maintain a database of online influencers
Implement Corporate Social Media Strategy and oversee the Social Media Policy
Maintain Online Ajax TV Channel and oversee Pod Cast Program
Research best practices, and new social media channels
Develop, coordinate and implement integrated digital communications plans for corporate and council initiatives
Coordinate the Town’s Outdoor Sign Messaging Program (mobile & electronic)
Develops professional written materials including communications plans, briefing notes, fact sheets, media materials and other communications products
Provide rapid response support during Emergency/Crisis events
Other duties as assigned
Applicant should have a diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Multi-Media Design or related discipline, including communications and social media certification.
1-3 years of experience in developing, designing, coordinating an analyzing social media content, preferable in a government or agency environment, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier), Social Media Management software
Demonstrated experience writing for social media platforms and for a digital environment
Experience with supporting integrated communications plans (digital & traditional)
Event planning experience
Experience with developing social media campaigns
Strong raw video and photography production skills
Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to work on multiple competing priorities and deliver results
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Well-developed organization and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Creative & Innovative thinker, keen ability to identify emerging trends and apply in municipal context
This is a non-union position that works 35 hours per week. The successful candidate must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends at various Town locations. The Town offers a comprehensive benefit package with paid sick and vacation leave; plus an OMERS pension.
