The Laboratory Assistant I is responsible for performing all aspects of the pre-analytical path of workflow including phlebotomy, micro collections by heel or finger stick, data entry, specimen processing, specimen distribution and preparation for transport.

Description:
As a Laboratory Assistant I, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with procurement of specimens, basic laboratory tests and lab-related administrative duties.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

Additional Required Qualifications:
The Laboratory Assistant I is responsible for performing all aspects of the pre-analytical path of workflow including phlebotomy, micro collections by heel or finger stick, data entry, specimen processing, specimen distribution and preparation for transport. Grade Twelve (12) diploma or equivalent required. Excellent communication skills both oral and written, with ability to relate information or directions to appropriate personnel in an accurate, clear and concise manner. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required; communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
