Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Construction Trades Helper / Construction Labourer to join our team working on custom residential construction projects on remote job sites throughout the Sunshine Coast and surrounding islands.
This position requires regular travel from Gibsons, BC to remote work sites by company boat or other transportation. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physically demanding work.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of custom residential construction projects.
- Assist carpenters and other skilled trades with construction and installation tasks.
- Load, unload, transport and organize construction materials, tools and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain clean, safe and organized job sites.
- Measure, cut and assemble building materials under direction.
- Assist with framing, siding, roofing, decks, foundations and other residential construction activities.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools and other construction equipment.
- Dig, level and prepare work areas as required.
- Follow all company safety procedures and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending and working at heights.
- Travel by boat to remote project sites and stay on-site during scheduled work rotations.
- Perform other general construction labour duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous residential construction experience is required.
- Experience assisting carpenters or working on residential construction projects is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
- Physically fit and able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable travelling by boat and working on remote job sites.
- Willingness to stay on-site during the workweek when required.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence is an asset.
- Must be able to reliably report to the departure point in Gibsons, BC.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Employment Conditions
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Overtime may be required based on project needs.
- Transportation from Gibsons to remote job sites is provided.
- Wage will be determined based on experience, qualifications and skills.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
