Work side by side with the owner and independently: Planting, Seeding, Weeding, Installing Row Covers, Irrigating, Harvesting, Washing and Packing Vegetables, Soil Preparation, Seed Bed Preparation and any other regular activities of the farm.
You will learn not only to perform your duties but also why we do the things the way we do.
Working outdoors in the fields and rolling hills of Fairweather Farm you will be isolated in nature. The woods that surround the fields provide protection to the crops but are also home to all manner of birds and small animals.
You will need to be able to be physically active on a daily basis, comfortable working standing or kneeling in the field.
You will also be able to carry and or move somewhat heavy objects such as a bag of fertilizer or a bin of freshly harvested vegetables.
We will teach you but you need to be willing and able to learn.
If you have previous experience and or education working in this type of environment or similar experience working with plants it would certainly be a great asset but not necessary.
A valid drivers license is required.
