Brake Press Operator – (Temp to Perm)
About Our Client We have a client who is a North American Leader in the Fabrication sectors with operations across Canada and the USA. They are a fully-integrated supplier of manufacturing and engineering services providing steel components and complex, high value-added assemblies for the agricultural, construction, mining, energy, heavy truck, and industrial sectors. They are urgently looking for a Brake Press Operator for a great temporary to permanent opportunity! At this time, they are only accepting candidates that can be considered for full-time employment.
What You Will Be Doing, as a Brake Press Operator:
- Set up and operate the brake press to bend, notch, punch, form, or straighten metal plates and sheet metal
- Perform machinery set-ups and die changes as required by production jobs
- Work confidently with steel components ranging from 1.5mm to 30mm thick
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop fabrication drawings to produce various configurations
- Measure, check, and verify work piece dimensions, correct shapes, and flatness for proper specifications
- Utilize precise measuring instruments to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and strict customer quality standards
- Complete scheduled shift work orders in a timely fashion, following the designated order schedule
- Grind laps or burrs from the edges of work pieces as needed
- Document all completed work accurately and ensure customer-specified packaging is properly set up
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment to ensure smooth machine operations
- Follow strict quality control, good housekeeping practices, and safety-focused floor guidelines
- Comply with all Operational Procedures, employee handbook policies, and Quality/Environment programs (i.e., IATF, ISO 14001)
What You Should Have, as a Brake Press Operator:
- One-year certificate from a College or Technical School, or 6 months to 1 year of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven metal fabrication experience; background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Strong proficiency in interpreting blueprints, layout configurations, and shop drawings
- Strong mechanical and mathematical inclination to calculate exact dimensions and tolerances
- Experience operating overhead crane equipment safely is a strong asset
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently
- Comfortable working with and moving large-sized steel components
- Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to working collaboratively within a team structure
In Return, You Will Receive:
- $27.00 per hour depending on shift
- Paid weekly, every Friday, 1 week behind
- Opportunity for permanent hire
- 4% vacation pay – accrued and paid out when you need it
- Access to a Vertical Representative Monday to Friday 8am to 11pm and on weekends
The Shift You Will be Working is:
- Monday to Friday – [Insert Hours] – ½ hour unpaid lunch – total 8 hours per day
