We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Public Health Team in Kamloops, B.C.!
What will you work on?
Environmental Health Officers (also known as Public Health Inspectors) investigate, evaluate, and take action to address environmental health hazards. We work with facility operators to ensure they can comply public health laws and educate citizens on how to protect themselves and others.
How will you create an impact?
Environmental Health Officers perform many duties for our communities, including:
- inspecting restaurants, public swimming pools, personal services (e.g. tattooing)
- investigating sources of pollution and threats to drinking water safety
- responding to hazardous chemical spills and disease outbreaks
- advising employers and community leaders in public health and environmental protection
How will we help you grow?
Environmental Health Officers participate at many levels, with opportunities to develop specific skills for a wide range of rolls in the public and private sector. With on-the-job experience and employer support training, experienced Officers progress from the field to specialist and supervisor positions, with some moving on to manager and director positions.
Who are we looking for?
Environmental Health Officers are highly skilled individuals with university degrees and national certification with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors. We are looking for new team members who value communication and strong problem solving and decision making skills are part of a diverse public health team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related discipline; must have a certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) and must be registered or eligible to be registered with the Board of Registration of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors BC Branch.
Two year’s recent experience as a Public Health Inspector or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
