COSCO SHIPPING Lines (Canada) Inc. is a leading global ocean carrier with a rich history in the Canadian market. The company is launching a brand-new operations centre, COSCO SHIPPING NAOC – North America Operation Center, in Toronto, and we are seeking detail-oriented Export Coordinators to streamline our outbound container movements.
We are hiring for multiple Import Operations positions across several functional areas, including Port Operations, Demurrage, Special Operations, Accounts Payable, Customs & Compliance, Equipment, Documentation, and Customer Service.
Successful candidates will be assigned to a functional area based on their qualifications, experience, strengths, and the operational needs of the business.
This is a full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week reporting to the Assistant General Manager of Export Department of NAOC.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate import discharge and terminal activities, including manifest and BAPLIE verification, vessel arrivals, terminal releases, cargo returns, diversions, port rotations, free-time extensions, and on/off-dock examinations.
- Manage customs and documentation requirements, including CBP notifications and holds, Bill of Lading and routing corrections, customs amendments, clearance location changes, border crossing issues, and seal exceptions.
- Monitor and reconcile terminal systems and IRIS4, ensuring accurate vessel, cargo, container, routing, and release information.
- Monitor IPI departures, overdue containers, terminal and rail storage, free time, and cargo aging to support timely cargo movement and minimize additional costs.
- Manage demurrage and billing activities, including invoices, unbilled items, customer disputes, RTR issues, third-party invoices, terminal/vendor statements, and related follow-up.
- Support General Order (GO), hazardous cargo, load shifts, damaged containers, rail diversion alerts, ramp examinations, and other special import operations, including required 3PI invoices and Internal Job Orders (IJOs).
- Monitor and maintain empty container and equipment reports, follow up on overdue equipment, and coordinate with Equipment Control, customers, Sales, and other stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues.
- Provide customer and operational support through portals, email, shared folders, and telephone, including tracking, tracing, pickup number releases, cargo availability, and delivery-related inquiries.
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly operational and audit reports, investigate discrepancies, and provide findings and updates to management.
- Ensure assigned activities are completed accurately and within required timelines, while following established procedures and meeting departmental KPIs, service standards, and operational requirements; identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service.
Skills/Requirement
- Post-secondary Education in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related fields preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in the shipping, logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, terminal operations, or supply chain industry is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Knowledge and experience with Freshdesk, Power Automate and Power BI a plus
- Flexibility to work varying start and end times, including statutory holidays, as required to meet operational and business needs.
