Sonic Milling Systems is seeking FSQA Technician to join our team and help to produce products at our food and beverage processing facility. We are a rapidly growing company currently producing plant-based beverages.
This is a full-time position currently based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This position may require relocation to the Edmonton, Alberta area in 2027 as part of our expansion plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring and updating existing HACCP, SOP, QC programs, procedures, and document control programs.
- Implement quality assurance programs that effectively monitor product manufacturing in compliance with GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP
- Record and analyze statistical data and recommend modifications, or suggest new standards, methods, and procedures.
- Make decisions concerning product quality, including shutting down line when processes do not conform to specifications with FSQA manager’s guidance/approval.
- Perform analytical tests, inspections, and monitoring of incoming raw materials/packaging and finished goods for specification compliance.
- Assist with supplier approval (updated documents, certificates, etc.)
- Assist in microbiological testing on equipment and product (Environmental Monitoring)
- Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Ensure maintenance and sanitation of the facility is in compliance with food safety requirements.
- Collaborates with colleagues in Operations (Production and R&D) , and Quality functions to continually improve capability and process efficiency.
- Assist in reviewing production documents e.g. formulations sheets, pre-operational inspection, sanitation, etc.
- Maintain a “floor presence” as an auditor of quality and food safety throughout the processing facility.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, or a related scientific discipline is preferred (not mandatory); however, equivalent education, training, or relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment (entry-level candidates with relevant internships or co-op experience may also be considered).
- Working knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and food safety management systems.
- Experience performing quality inspections, sampling, product testing, or environmental monitoring is preferred.
- Experience with document control, record keeping, and quality assurance documentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory and certification standards such as BRCGS, CFIA, Organic, Gluten-Free, etc. is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to analyze and summarize data.
- HACCP certification is preferred; internal auditor training or PCQI training is an asset.
