Position Overview
- Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, or parts replacement on building and equipment on a scheduled basis such as inspecting belts, checking fluid levels, repairs or replacing defective parts on equipment.
- Ensures pool chemicals are filled, regularly monitors pool chemistry and takes corrective action, if required.
- Places orders for required parts to complete repairs, with approval.
- Performs building maintenance and repairs such as painting, plastering, and assembling equipment.
- Maintains building snow removal and landscaping.
- Maintains records of completed repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Collects garbage and disposes of waste.
- Set up and tear down for facility functions.
- Assist housekeeping with minor tasks, as required.
- Conducts security alarm checks.
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance records such as fire drills and requisitions.
- Assist contractors working within the YMCA.
- Actively participates in scheduled programs, meetings and special events.
- In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assists and encourages program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.
- Other duties as assigned.
General YMCA Responsibilities

- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
- Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.

Skills & Qualifications
- 16 years old (minimum).
- Previous maintenance work is an asset.
- Workplace Standard First Aid is an asset.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication (verbal & written) with members, staff and volunteers.
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work - early mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening and proof of certifications, if applicable. Employees will be required to complete online YMCA Safeguarding Training.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
Work Location: In person
