The Opportunity

As Assistant Deputy Minister you will leverage your collaborative leadership style in order to work in partnership with the province’s health agencies to achieve the best possible health care experience for the people of Saskatchewan. Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Minister of Health, the Assistant Deputy Minister is part of the senior executive team that shares responsibility for the development, planning and implementation of a strategic direction that is aligned with government direction and ensures a ministry-wide perspective is incorporated into the delivery of a diverse range of programs and services.

As the Assistant Deputy Minister you will:
Lead and manage ministry programs to be effective and responsive in implementing strategies that address client needs and align with government direction.
Participate as an executive team member providing leadership within the ministry and furthering the government-wide goals and objectives.
Lead, coach and mentor a management team to achieve ministry plan strategies.
Participate as a team member or leader with other government ministries to ensure cross ministry initiatives and the corporate goals of government are achieved.
Provide strategic options, comprehensive policy advice, briefing papers, recommendations and perspectives to the Deputy Minister on functions, activities and issues.
Represent the ministry and province on various committees and task forces to provide input and perspective on program initiatives.
Manage fiscal and human resources to ensure the effective use of resources in meeting ministry plan objectives.
Develop and maintain partnerships with public and private sector organizations in the delivery of the division’s programs and services.
Develop and maintain effective, open and consultative relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have senior executive experience with a demonstrated track record for achieving results in a complex, multiple stakeholder environment. In addition, you will have:

Leadership strengths that promote inclusion, engagement and foster an innovative, collaborative environment;
A solid track record of building and maintaining credible relationships across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders;
Knowledge and experience in public policy development, program management and financial management;
Proven capability to identify and deliver key strategic insights, counsel and policy to ensure decision making is made with the best possible advice;
Demonstrated ability to build commitment through collaboration, consultation and consideration of citizen and stakeholder impacts;
Well established consensus-building skills, results oriented, and an ability to mentor and develop staff to a high level of accountability;
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with, and influence, a variety of stakeholders; and
Sound judgment and diplomacy skills to handle sensitive files and function in a political environment.
