Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for one full-time position, 40-hours-per-week, Donor Development Specialist to join our head office in Edmonton, AB.
Job Summary
The Donor Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts by developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain donors. This role involves coordinating fundraising campaigns, managing donor databases, organizing/supporting events, and conducting research to identify potential funding opportunities. The Donor Development Specialist works closely with the Development Manager and other team members to achieve the Sign of Hope Campaign goals.
Job Responsibilities
Fundraising Campaigns
- Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
- Coordinate direct mail, email, and social media fundraising efforts.
Donor Relations and Stewardship
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors.
- Manage a portfolio of individual and corporate donors, ensuring we nurture and strengthen our relationship with them.
- Plan and execute donor recognition and stewardship activities: prepare and send acknowledgment letters, thank you notes, and other donor communications.
Event Support
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events.
- Coordinate logistics, manage event timelines, and liaise with vendors and volunteers.
- Track and report on the progress of fundraising events.
- Collaborate with the DCR Team to manage events’ attendance and track event-related donations.
Database Management and Documentation
- Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accurate and complete records of contributions, donor information, and stewardship activity.
- Maintains electronic and paper files for planned giving gifts.
- Generate reports and analyze data to inform fundraising strategies and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Assist in monitoring fundraising budgets and tracking expenses.
- Prepare financial reports and fundraising metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct analysis of fundraising performance to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data security policies.
Other Duties
- Assist in the development and execution of the organization's overall fundraising strategy.
- Support other fundraising initiatives and events as needed.
What This Job Requires:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Public Relations.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related area within the nonprofit sector.
- Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor lifecycle management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational and project management experience.
- Proficiency in using donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
