We are currently hiring for the position of:
DIRECTOR, CREATIVE SERVICES & STRATEGY

TIFF is seeking a Director of Creative Services & Strategy to oversee TIFF’s look, feel, voice and audience experience holistically across all marketing and communications channels (design, editorial and content production) and media (print, video, digital).

The ideal candidate is a fiercely creative, hyper-collaborative leader, who will inspire innovation, strategic thinking, and creative excellence within a 14-member editorial, video and design team and 5 direct reports and across the organization to maintain and expand TIFF’s role as a leading cultural organization domestically and internationally. This role holds a key relationship and collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Working in partnership with the Marketing & Communications Director, The Director of Creative Services & Strategy will support TIFF’s revenue and impact targets by transforming TIFF’s strategies for TIFF Bell Lightbox and the annual Toronto International Film Festival into bold, engaging creative, from development to execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with VP, Marketing & Communications and cross-functional teams to develop compelling campaigns that meet the marketing, impact and business objectives of the organization and that advance the brand strategy with innovation and consistency
Set the creative strategy and guidelines for TIFF. Owning the creative process from brief to production
Build a dynamic and engaging department culture in which the team is inspired to take risks and achieve creative excellence
Develop, manage and implement annual budgets
Regularly review and refine, as necessary, department policies, best practice guidelines and workflows to ensure efficiency and flawless division that reflects our diverse portfolio of work and unique influence across cultural, social, political, philanthropic and other sectors
Ensure that all creative is rooted in providing a deeply engaging customer experience
Partner with Director of Marketing & Communications to inform and manage the strategic direction and goals of all creative initiatives and output
Drive the integration of visual, verbal and editorial messaging both internally and externally
Oversee design, copy and video content production for all TIFF year-round and annual Film Festival campaigns and collateral
Direct the look, feel and experience of all digital and print channels
Direct the look, feel and tone of all branding for TIFF Bell Lightbox programming and annual Film Festival
Clarify creative goals and manage production and workflow. Prioritize projects to ensure on-time delivery
Direct multiple integrated projects from concept through completion within tight timeframes
Build positive and collaborative relationships between creative teams and other departments within TIFF
Present and recommend creative ideas and execution across the organization gaining alignment to direction while acting upon useful feedback and metrics
Identify and engage seasonal contractors as required
Directly supervise staff, provide feedback, mentorship and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles
Serve as a strategic thought-partner to the VP, Marketing & Communications, offering new and innovative ideas for marketing & communicating about TIFF and its impact
Identify and inspire outside agencies and vendors where necessary to maintain elevated creative standards
Lead creative ideation and brainstorm sessions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
10+ years of creative direction experience, demonstrating strong design, editorial and production skills across all channels
5+ years managing creative teams, resources and budgets
Experience working within a marketing team and taking responsibility for strategically-driven campaign work
Background in entertainment, media is preferred
Experience working cross-functionally with programming, advancement and technical teams
Experience developing creative briefs and evaluating concepts / final executions
Exceptional presentation, written, and communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach and demonstrated experience managing multiple and diverse teams
Outstanding project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, reconcile competing interests, and streamline workflow based on organizational priorities
Experience mentoring and supervising a group of direct reports
Highly strategic and excels at insight-driven thinking
Juggle with ease, organizing and balancing multiple projects while nurturing solid relationships
