About the Opportunity
Summary:
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for performing day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for this not for profit organization.
This will include:
- Leading and mentoring finance department staff(5)

Review and approval of monthly financial transactions, including revenue and cost allocations, asset amortization, and other period-end journal entries

Preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

Preparation of and updates to annual operating and capital budgets

Oversight of tracking and maintenance of funding agreements, purchasing contracts

Preparation of periodic financial accountability reports to funders

Oversight of cash management and cash flow projections

Approvals of deposits and payments

Adherence to internal financial policies
Of major importance, the Controller will work closely with the CFO, the Board Finance Committee, Managers, and employees to:
- Establish efficient and effective financial structures, policies, and processes that will support legislative and regulatory compliance, adherence to sound internal controls, and integrity of financial reporting

identify and remediate financial risks
Experience & Working Knowledge
- 3- 5 years of working experience in financial reporting discipline with an extensive background working in finance roles as a Senior Accountant, Supervisor, or Finance Manager
- Exposure to a 'Not for Profit' is an asset
- Well-developed planning, organizational, and time-management skills, able to handle competing priorities, and a consistent record of meeting deadlines

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent attention to detail, but able to see the "big picture"

Technology Savvy and experience with Software (e.g., Sage 300, Pay works, Vivid, Microsoft, Excel)

The individual has a genuine passion for their passion for this profession an a love for giving back to their community
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- A graduate degree in Business Commerce is highly desirable. A professional accounting designation, CPA or equivalent experience is essential
Conditions of Employment

Position status: Full-Time permanent 40 hours/week, 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, with some overtime during peak financial reporting periods
