POSITION OVERVIEW
Lemia Natural Beauty Salon is seeking a Junior Natural Hair Stylist through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. This position is ideal for a young person who has some experience with braiding, locs, or natural hair styling and is looking to gain experience working in a salon environment.
The successful candidate will assist with salon services, support daily operations, and continue developing their natural hair care skills while working alongside experienced stylists.
JOB DETAILS
- 8-week Canada Summer Jobs position
- 35 hours per week
- $17.60 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with natural hair services including braiding preparation, sectioning, product application, and basic styling
- Support loc maintenance services under supervision
- Perform hair washing, conditioning, and scalp treatments
- Greet clients and assist with customer service and appointment flow
- Maintain clean and organized workstations
- Sanitize tools and work areas according to health and safety standards
- Assist with inventory organization and product restocking
- Observe and assist with natural hair services including braiding, loc maintenance, and protective styling
QUALIFICATIONS
- Some experience with braiding, locs, twists, or natural hair styling required
- Interest in hairstyling, beauty, or entrepreneurship
- Willingness to learn and develop salon skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, professional, and self-motivated
- Ability to work respectfully with clients from diverse backgrounds
SKILLS DEVELOPED
Participants will gain:
- Hands-on experience in natural hair care and salon operations
- Customer service and communication skills
- Workplace professionalism and time management
- Knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety standards
- Exposure to small business operations
SUPERVISION
- Work directly with salon staff during daily operations
- Receive guidance and support as needed
- Gain hands-on experience in natural hair care, client service, and salon operations

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

SCHEDULE
- Salon operates Sunday through Friday
- Schedule to be determined based on salon needs
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Some experience with braiding, locs, or natural hair styling is required
- Additional training and guidance will be provided
