Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Transgender Child and Youth Support Worker to provide emotional, social, and developmental support to transgender children and adolescents. This role involves working closely with young individuals to foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment. The ideal candidate will be involved with the 2SLGBTQIA community and have an understanding of transitioning. Candidates must be open to working with the family as we are a specialized program, and work with the families along with the youth to strengthen relationships.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to transgender children and youth, assisting them in daily activities and emotional well-being
- Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to each child's needs
- Facilitate group activities that promote social skills, self-esteem, and community engagement
- Collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support
- Assist children in accessing resources related to health, education, and social services
- Advocate for the rights and needs of transgender youth within various settings
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, progress notes, and support plans
- Create a welcoming environment that respects each child's gender identity and personal expression
- Involve family in support plans and educate on the youths
Skills
- Prior work with children or youth in educational or supportive settings is preferred
- Strong teaching abilities to help children develop social and life skills
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening and empathetic engagement
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, teams, and community partners
- Patience, cultural sensitivity, and a nonjudgmental attitude towards gender identities
- Organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects diversity and promotes safety
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
