Workers Compensation Case Manager
Absence Management Solutions
Edmonton, Alberta (Remote)
Reporting to the Manager of Workers’ Compensation Services you are responsible for assisting employers when an employee is off work or at risk of being off work due to a work related incident or illness.
Create, facilitate and manage appropriate return to work plans and outcomes with Employees, Employers and the Provincial Workers' Compensation Board
Work collaboratively with Employers, Employees and the Provincial Workers' Compensation Boards to influence outcomes on Workers’ Compensation claims
Accurately record and explain detailed claim information orally and in writing
Provide expertise in managing a varied and complex caseload in a fast-paced environment
Mitigate risk to Employers through interpretation of legislation, policy and medical reports
Identify and pursue areas of cost relief, reduction and/or recovery
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and the Provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards
Communicate proactively with Employers regarding any case management issues that may impact the workplace and return to work planning.
HRPA designation or paralegal designation is an asset
Disability Management and Return to Work Planning
Medical terms of reference, with ability to analyze medical information
Workers’ Compensation legislation, regulations and policy
The ideal candidate has a minimum 4-5 years of occupational Case Management experience with return to work planning experience. You have a university education and/or background in disability management, claim adjudication or legal services. Additional course work in occupational health, rehabilitation, labour relations, mediation, and/or psychological and workplace factors in disability would be an asset. You have strong interpersonal skills along with superior assessment and problem solving skills. English/French language skills are an asset.
