Position Overview:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, summarized, and reported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Reconcile bank statements and company financial accounts on a monthly basis.
- Process payroll and ensure timely payment of employees.
- Prepare and submit financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Manage vendor accounts, including invoicing and payment tracking.
- Handle tax filings, sales tax returns, and other regulatory reports.
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure financial accuracy and reporting.
- Assist in annual audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
Qualifications:
- Must provide relevant diploma in accounting
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience in retail or food distribution industries is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., CPB) is an asset.
