Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday work week
Please Note: This is initially a remote-first role, with occasional travel required to our Head Office in Fort McKay, AB. The role will transition to an office-based position in Edmonton, AB. Preference will be given to candidates local to Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

Role Summary:
Collaborating closely with the Director of Finance, the Controller leads project accounting duties and ensures the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial packages. With a focus on corporate financial management, responsibilities include reconciling intercompany transactions, coordinating year-end audits, and contributing to the enhancement of accounting systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial package assembly.
- Prepare reconciliations for intercompany transactions and general ledger entries.
- Assist in the coordination of year-end audits.
- Generate monthly accrual entries for revenue, payroll, and payables; review Open Purchase Orders for month-end accruals.
- Provide backup support to the Director of Finance and contribute to the development of new or improved accounting systems and processes.
- Take the lead in implementing ERP systems, specifically focusing on financial aspects.
- Investigate and resolve audit findings and discrepancies in accounts.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
- Conduct financial analysis, delving into monthly trends and details.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and actively promote safety processes.
- Handle ad hoc reports and general office duties as required.
- Lead Project Accounting responsibilities.
- Collaborate internally with Procurement, Commercial, Support Services, and Site teams.
- Engage externally with auditors and consultants as needed.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in analytical accounting role.
- Experience with Microsoft Navision is an asset.
- CPA designation and/or commitment to obtaining is required.
- Strong organization, accuracy, and prioritization skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in a high-volume environment.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office with Superior Excel knowledge and experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- Excellent attention to detail is a must.
- Self-motivated.
- The ability to work and interact with people from diverse backgrounds is a must.
- Ability to identify problems/issues and generate new solutions to complex problems.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage and adapt to change in a fast-paced and ever-growing work environment.
