Job Summary
Role Overview:
Little Kitchen Academy is seeking a hands-on Assistant Director to support the daily operations, class readiness, team support, and student experience at our Vancouver, Fraser Academy. This role works closely with the Managing Director and plays a key part in maintaining strong day-to-day execution, operational consistency, and high-quality class delivery.
This role helps support business continuity, team accountability, and a safe, positive experience for students and families.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Operations and Team Support (20%)
Daily Operations and Class Readiness
- Support day-to-day operations to ensure the academy runs smoothly, safely, and consistently
- Help manage floor upkeep, cleanliness, sanitation, supply inventory, and equipment readiness
- Support ingredient ordering and recipe organization
- Help maintain strong operational standards through organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
Scheduling, Systems, and Administrative Support
- Support registration flow, roster updates, and day-to-day administrative coordination
- Respond to emails and assist families with registration questions and concerns
- Support administrative execution across shared inboxes, registration systems, and location processesTeam Support and People Coordination
- Lead the training and development of team members and partner with the Director to plan, assign, and manage workloads
- Provide day-to-day support, feedback, and accountability for instructors
- Participate in employee recognition and team support efforts
- Work closely with the Director and other location leaders, adjusting responsibilities as needed based on business priorities, staffing needs, and team strengths
- Assist with Social Media content creation and posting.
Compliance and Community Support
- Support the Director in maintaining compliance with health, fire, sanitation, and classroom safety standards
- Assist the Director in building relationships with local schools and community partners
- Support family, student, and team communication with professionalism, care, and strong follow-through
Instructing, Class Execution and Support (80%)
Classroom Leadership and Live Support
- Regularly participate in classes through teaching, live support, transition management, real-time instructor guidance, and perform routine class audits
- Help ensure a safe, high-quality, and engaging student experience in every class
- Remain highly active in the environment to support smooth class flow and strong day-to-day execution
Instructor Support and Classroom Quality
- Coach and support instructors in real time to maintain LKA class standards
- Help ensure classes are fully prepared, properly staffed, and well-supported throughout the day
- Step in to support coverage and classroom execution as needed
Student and Family Experience
- Help create a safe, joyful, and empowering learning environment for students
- Support positive family experiences through responsiveness, professionalism, and consistent in-class and on-floor presence
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in education, hospitality, child development, culinary, or similar environments
- Strong operational, organizational, and team support skills
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Excel (pivot tables) for reporting, monitoring, and tracking.
- Proven ability to mentor, guide, and support team members in a hands-on environment
- Excellent communication skills with children, families, and team members
- Strong ability to stay calm, organized, and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities across operations, class support, and family communication
- Demonstrated ability to support instructors in real time while maintaining a safe, positive, and organized learning environment
- First Aid/CPR certification, including with children, Food Safe Level 1, and Criminal Background Check required or obtainable before start
- MUST have experience working with children with a special focus on ages 3-5
- Having personal or professional experience in cooking and baking is highly recommended
- MUST BE Available to work evenings and weekends
Work Environment
- Part-time, on-site role based at Little Kitchen Academy Fraser. This role will transition to a Full-time role during Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break.
- Requires active daily presence in both operational and classroom settings
- Involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the class for extended periods
- Requires flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends based on business needs. Weekend and evening availabilty is a MUST.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
