Northwestern Veterinary Hospital is seeking a friendly and reliable individual to join our reception team!


The main duties and responsibilities of a receptionist include but are not limited to:

  • Welcomes clients by greeting them in person or on the telephone
  • Check-in and check-out clients
  • Set-up new clients and patients in the database and prepare physical file
  • Prepare and maintain medical records
  • Prepare exam rooms for appointments
  • Fill prescriptions
  • Process payments transactions accurately
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Answer and triage telephone calls
  • Record and relay messages
  • Maintain clean and safe reception area
  • Deal with customer concerns and complaints in a courteous and effective manner
  • Interact with doctors and other clinic staff regarding care of patients
  • Attend mandatory meetings and seminars
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing and sorting

Skills & Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year receptionist/administrative experience required
  • Must be fully available 7:30 am - 6 pm (including weekends). Full time staff work on a 4-on, 4-off rotation. Actual hours may differ and may be reduced to part time hours depending on our requirements
  • Must be client-focused with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
