We are seeking a Business Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Burnaby, BC. This role is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and supporting a portfolio of enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, Payroll, HRIS, and other mission-critical systems.
This role combines DevOps operational expertise with application support, configuration management, and software testing practices. Working closely with business units, system owners, infrastructure teams, and vendors, the Business Systems Engineer will help ensure system reliability, data integrity, and optimal end-to-end application performance across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Application Support & System Administration

Provide support and troubleshooting for ERP, CRM, HRIS, payroll, and other enterprise applications, including issue resolution, upgrades, patches, configurations, and ongoing system maintenance.

Manage incidents and support activities across servers, databases, integrations, and user environments to ensure reliable application performance.

Database management across the various applications
Business Analysis & Process Mapping
-
Requirements gathering and documentation, creating use-cases, defining acceptance criteria,
-
Gap-analysis, impact analysis, and root-cause analysis
-
Process mapping including experience using LEAN methodologies, Value-Stream and Stakeholder Persona Journey

Ability to translate business requirements into technical specification documents
-
Strong financial and business analysis
System Configuration, Testing & Quality Assurance
-
Create test plans, test scripts and automated testing
-
Undertake quality assurance activities associated with release management including coordination
-
Maintain application configurations, support release management activities, and ensure data integrity, system stability, and quality assurance for enhancements, integrations, and updates.
DevOps & Technology Projects
-
Support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployments, system upgrades, vendor implementations, and technology modernization initiatives.

Support low-code automation and script development
-
Design, build and automate using Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft Visual Studio (C#/.NET) and other DevOps platforms

Develop and maintain APIs
Documentation & User Support

Create technical documentation, user guides, process maps, and troubleshooting resources while providing user training and communicating system changes effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

5-10 years of experience in DevOps, application support, systems engineering, or enterprise environments with a strong focus on application reliability, automation, and database management.

Experience supporting ERP, CRM, HRIS, and payroll systems, with exposure to platforms such as Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Workday, Oracle, Dayforce, SAP, or similar solutions.

Experience with enterprise application lifecycle management, software integrations, testing frameworks, quality assurance practices,

Experience with DevOps & CI/CD

Experience with Process Mapping and LEAN Methodologies including Value-Stream Mapping, Journey-Mapping, Process Workflow, Process optimization, Six Sigma, Process Modeling

Experience / certification in Business requirements with strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong expertise i.e., Super-User with Microsoft 365 - Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Forms, and Sharepoint, Teams, Power Apps, Power Automate

Experience with Process Mining and RPA (process automation)

Bonus: if you have low-code development experience esp. with Microsoft Visual Studio and other low-code applications
- Industry experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, transportation, or engineering environments is considered an asset.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated ownership, accountability, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize and self-manage work in a fast-paced environment.

Professional certifications such as LEAN, Six Sigma, Design Thinking, PMP, CBAP/CCBA (IIBA), Python, Microsoft Azure Developer, PL-900 MS Power Platform Fundamentals, PL-400 Microsoft Platform Developer Associate, Visual Studio
Compensation:
The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $91,000 to $125,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
