We are looking for an experienced Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of the day-to-day financial operations of a successful local business.
Working closely with ownership and our external Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) firm, you will be responsible for the complete accounting cycle while ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and regulatory compliance. Cranbrook Flooring does not have an LMIA for this position. Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada and must reside in the local area or be willing to relocate.
What You'll Do
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage the complete accounting cycle from transaction entry through month-end reconciliations.
- Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Complete bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare month-end reports and assist with financial reporting.
Payroll & Government Reporting
- Process employee payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare and remit payroll source deductions.
- Prepare and remit GST, PST, and other required government filings.
- Prepare annual T5018 subcontractor reporting.
- Ensure compliance with CRA and provincial requirements.
Inventory & Job Costing
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and costing.
- Support job costing and project profitability reporting.
- Maintain financial accuracy within inventory and purchasing systems.
Year-End & CPA Collaboration
- Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for year-end.
- Work collaboratively with our external Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) firm during year-end preparation.
- Respond to requests for financial information and assist in ensuring an efficient year-end process.
- Support implementation of recommendations from our accounting advisors.
Administration & Team Support
- Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records.
- Assist with employee benefits administration and related documentation.
- Support ownership with budgeting, reporting, and financial information as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications / Preferred Experience
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Experience managing accounting for a small to medium-sized business.
- Experience with payroll, government remittances, and month-end procedures.
- Experience working with external accounting firms during year-end.
- Experience in construction, retail, flooring, or inventory-based businesses is considered an asset.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- High level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn and utilize industry-specific accounting software.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and professional advisors.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
