1. Job Purpose.
To lead NGF Canada’s business operations by developing and implementing strategies to meet NSG, NGF and NGFC visions and targets. To identify and commercialise growth opportunities whilst achieving the required profit level. To meet customers’ requirements for quality, performance and service, ensuring the safety of personnel and integrity of the operation at all times. Instil a culture of trust, respect and one where safety is a priority for all employees. Manage staff in Sales and Marketing, Operations, Administration and Technical areas as well as oversee a diverse unionised workforce in a manufacturing environment.
2. Principle Accountabilities
2.1 Health and Safety
- To develop a safety culture that at a minimum, meets but ideally surpasses NSG requirements in line with NABIS Safety Leadership
- To ensure that all health and safety policies are implemented and that safety improvement targets are met
- Lead site achievement of safety targets for accident and risk reduction
2.2 Organisation
- Guided by corporate mission, vision and values, along with cord SBU strategy, create and implement a local, short-medium-long term strategy with a focus upon growth
- Provide oversight to ensure that the business is legally compliant in all areas, directing legal concerns to the appropriate internal or external function and supporting as required
- Ensure corporate values/ethics are part of the local culture
- Ensure appropriate resourcing together with learning and development plans are in place to support business objectives
- Ensure a continuous improvement philosophy focusing on all aspects of business performance
- Work with all departments to ensure the business has the necessary infrastructure and resources to operate effectively
- Provide oversight and direction to the development and implementation of policies and processes.
2.3 Operations
- Lead, guide, and support supplier relationship management for site specific raw materials
- Ensure that manning levels and production rates are optimised to meet customer demand
- Identify, monitor and review applicable Operational KPI’s, monitor and manage performance
- Manage capital expenditure
- Ensure 5S standards are achieved
- Ensure there is an effective JHSC (joint health and safety committee)
- Identify and introduce cost down measures in accordance with OCS/TrXI targets
2.4 Cost
- Prepare sales budgets and rolling plans to determine current and future revenue streams
- Prepare capital budgets for short – medium term investment
- Determine KPI’s, measure and track results
- Utilise financial data to assist in managing expenditures and determining improvement targets
- Ensure monthly accounts are published on time with appropriate analysis
- Monitor business costs and implement appropriate strategies to control business expenditure.
- Oversee direct and indirect cost saving initiatives, ensuring regular reporting into Group functions.
- Ensure working capital is aligned with the business operational and financial requirements.
Ensure business cash flow is meeting expectations and accounts receivables are closely managed and invoices are paid by their due date.
2.5 People
- Ensure NSG group visions, mission and values are understood and cascaded throughout the operation
- To form positive working relationships with direct reports, subordinates, and trade unions
- Lead contract negotiations
- Maintain channels for regular communication
- Utilise learning and development processes, ensure appropriate support and development for applicable site roles
- Oversee disciplinary matters and grievances, establishing a stable and constructive climate for employee relations
- To recruit and train Management employees, regularly appraising performance and responding to needs for development
- Monitor sickness and injuries, utilising appropriate data to reduce absenteeism whilst following agreed HR policies
- Ensure the recruitment program supports the business vision, managing turnover to ensure smooth transitions.
2.6 Quality
- Ensure quality standards are met and or improved as governed by group/internal targets and ISO
- Ensure that appropriate corrective action is taken in response to customer complaints
- Ensure appropriate coordination of activities between NGFE-NGFC
- Support the Quality Function through management oversight and provide a point of escalation if required for supplier and customer relationship management.
- Build relationships with external customers in relation to all aspects of our product
- Work closely with suppliers looking at ways to improve their products and services
- Ensure CTQ/CTP material changes are managed via MOC with assistance from NGFE Quality Department.
2.7 Sales, Marketing and Development
- Support sales and marketing activities from budget forecasting through to supply of product
- Increase revenues and improve value added business portfolio
- Ensure appropriate new product introduction processes (NPI) to support new business opportunities
- Ensure there is a systematic approach to collaborative customer requirements between NGF sites
- Work with the Operations and Product Development departments to ensure appropriate accessibility to labour and equipment to progress development activities.
- Work with customers and suppliers to develop partnerships that benefit NGFC’s efforts to grow the business. Including but not limited to relationship building, technical and commercial contracts and NDAs, and ensuring alignment with NGF and NSG global strategies

- Support the business growth strategy with revision as needed
- Submission of required budgets e.g. sales, financial, operational
- Management of ME360 and MEIP
- Management of ME targets for 5S and OCS
