Job Summary
All Saints University School of Medicine is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Chartered Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, supporting financial reporting, and contributing to the University's financial planning and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Manage the University's accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of payments and collections.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate accounting records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other enterprise financial systems.
- Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with applicable tax, statutory, and employment regulations.
- Monitor cash flow and assist in treasury management activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Support external audits and regulatory reporting by preparing schedules and providing required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal financial policies, and statutory regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile student tuition accounts and other University revenues.
- Assist in developing and improving financial policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
- Conduct financial analyses and provide recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Assist with grant, scholarship, and project financial reporting where applicable.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within higher education, healthcare, or a similar professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with payroll processing and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a university or educational institution.
- Familiarity with student information systems and tuition billing processes.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- CPA, ACCA designation, an added advantage
