Job description
We have exciting opportunities for ambitious HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) engineers (P.Eng.) with 5 years of local experience in designing and supervising installation, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in various buildings such as commercial and industrial. This job requires knowledge of various mechanical and electrical engineering concepts as well as a deep understanding of HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and components, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
In these positions, you'll be leading the planning and design of temporary and permanent structures related to water and wastewater infrastructure projects from our Newmarket Office, supporting the delivery of local government projects across the Greater Toronto Area, as well as working closely with our internal teams on large commercial/residential subdivision projects. You will have a key focus on successful project delivery and support the mentoring and coaching of junior staff in the team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC systems and components based on project requirements and specifications
- Perform load calculations to determine appropriate system capacities and equipment sizes
- Create system schematics and layouts using AutoCAD or similar software
- Collaborate with architects, builders, and other engineers to ensure system integration and compatibility
- Conduct performance tests and analyze system data to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
- Create project reports and documentation, including cost estimates, timelines, and specifications
- Provide technical support to construction teams during installation and commissioning
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and advancements in HVAC technology
- Identify potential system issues and propose solutions for improving performance and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering
- P.Eng. license to practice in the Province of Ontario
- Experience in using Revit, AutoCAD or similar design software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards
- Experience with energy modeling and optimization tools is a plus
