Current Shifts: Days, Nights & Weekends -12hrs (Approx. 1900-700 & 700-1900)
Position Summary:
The Emergency Room (ER) Attendant position provides support to the emergency department to ensure that daily flow and functioning in the emergency department is maintained each shift. The ER Attendant supports this function by ensuring that proper supplies and equipment are ordered, stocked and maintained. They also assist with transferring of patients and stretchers within the department as required. The ER Attendants work as a team with housekeeping and portering to ensure that beds are cleaned and available and that patients are transported in a timely manner. The ER attendants may assist with minor patient case such as providing nutrition, warm blankets and answering phones.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of WHMIS, Emergency Codes and Privacy Legislation
- Completion or willingness to complete the Smart Moves Program and Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning eLearning Course
- Experience working in a busy hospital environment and with following universal precautions preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work and exercise judgement independently, as well as to take direction and work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Physically capable of maneuvering and pushing stretchers with patients
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
- Basic computer skills required for online supplies ordering, checking work email etc.
