If you are ready to take your HR career to the next level this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for! Reporting to, and working closely with, the Director, Human Resources, the H.R. Manager will support our Canadian Operations, office and plants. The HR Manager will provide advice and support to a variety of client groups, union and non-union, hourly and salaried, on all things related to Human Resources. As a strategic business partner and manager, you will work closely with the business in support of achieving their goals. This is a hands-on role, appropriate for individuals who are as comfortable on the shop floor as they are in the boardroom; with full spectrum generalist responsibilities ranging from being a leader within the HR Canada team and a business partner, to providing end to end service for all things HR related. This role will also be involved in and contribute to corporate Human Resources initiatives and projects as required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Function as the first point of contact on all HR matters; manage and provide services in Employee Relations, Labour Relations, Full Cycle Recruitment, Performance Management, Employee Orientation/On-boarding, Change Management, Learning & Development and Talent Management.
- Work in collaboration with the Director, to help resolve specific matters
- Promote and coach managers and employees on HR programs, policies and processes
- Support the annual processes for performance management, compensation and talent review
- With strong understanding and experience of employment legislation, lead the prompt resolution of employee relations issues, grievance disposition, and initiate proactive measures to minimize the potential for recurrence of similar issues
- Build trust and credibility with all employee groups, hourly and salaried, to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment
- Actively participate in and support corporate HR initiatives and special projects.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools using Ceridian and other tools (excel) to capture and distribute meaningful data and metrics related to HR areas - our dashboard.
- Remain current in market trends, legislation and best practices to continue to keep the company diligent in the best employee experience and initiate novel approaches where appropriate.
Position Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- 5 to 7 years progressive experience as a Human Resources Generalist, Manager
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or Related Discipline
- CHRP or CHRL designation preferred
- Expertise in HR legislation with extensive experience in Employee and Labour Relations, negotiation experience would be a definite asset
- Well versed and successful in delivering full cycle recruiting
- Experience in Learning and Development an asset
- Proven communication skills, including the design and delivery of impactful presentations, facilitation, consultation and relationship building skills
- Experience and ability to work effectively in a dynamic and diverse environment that includes corporate as well as production.
