About the Role:
The FRN (Family Resource Network) Navigator (FRNN) provides client-centered, trauma-informed services by connecting children, youth, and families to appropriate supports and services within the community. As a central point of contact, the FRNN provides information, referral, and short-term support services, helping families access programs that promote child and youth development, family functioning, and community connection. The Navigator carries out their duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards, and contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
This position is full-time with 37.5 hours per week and includes benefits. Shifts and days of work will vary based on program needs and can include evenings and weekends. Advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct participant intake and assessments to determine eligibility and support needs.
- Serve as the primary contact for families accessing the Family Resource Network.
- Provide accurate, up-to-date information about internal and external services, including parenting supports, mental health resources, child development programs, and basic needs assistance.
- Refer families to appropriate programs and community supports, ensuring warm hand-offs when necessary.
- Conduct screenings, intakes, and assessments to identify family needs.
- Assist families in navigating complex systems and advocate for access to services when needed.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with service providers, schools, and community partners.
- Attend community events and outreach activities to promote FRN services and increase visibility.
- Collect and inputs data accurately and timely into designated systems.
- Work within defined program budgets.
- Maintain accurate participant files in accordance with funder and YMCA guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree/diploma in Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, CPR-C.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification preferred.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting families with complex needs.
- Strong working knowledge of child development, parenting practices, and community resources.
- Strong working knowledge in culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practice, and strength-based approach.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for community events or meetings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases and other technology.
- Annual registration in a professional organization as required by law.
- Valid driver’s license and has a reliable vehicle.
