Sault College is seeking experienced trades professionals to teach within our Motive Power Apprenticeship programs.
We are developing a talent pool of part-time faculty with industry experience in:
- Automotive Service Technician (310S)
- Heavy Equipment Technician (421A)
- Truck and Coach Technician (310T)
If you’ve built your career working in industry, and pride yourself in your ability to work on a team, and support learning among those you work with, this is an opportunity to pass your knowledge and strong work ethic on to the next generation of apprentices.
What You'll Teach
Part-time instructors may teach across apprenticeship levels in areas such as:
- Engine systems, diagnostics, and repair
- Electrical and electronic systems and troubleshooting
- Drive train systems including transmission, differentials, and power flow
- Hydraulic and fluid power systems (heavy equipment)
- Fuel systems including diesel injection and emissions systems
- Steering, suspension, braking, and alignment systems
- Shop practices, safety procedures, and tool/equipment use
Courses combine classroom instruction with hands-on shop demonstrations and practical learning.
What We're looking For
We are seeking individuals who:
- Hold a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification in one of the following:
- Automotive Service Technician (310S)
- Heavy Equipment Technician (421A)
- Truck and Coach Technician(310T)
- Have several years of hands-on industry experience and a strong foundation in their trade
- Take pride in their work and want to mentor apprentices entering the field
- Can explain technical concepts clearly and demonstrate procedures safely
- Value professionalism, teamwork, and strong safety practices
Previous teaching or training experience an asset, but not required.
What You'll Do
- Deliver engaging lessons that connect theory to real-world shop and field experience
- Demonstrate tools, equipment, and diagnostic procedures
- Guide apprentices through hands-on activities and problem-solving
- Evaluate student progress through practical and theoretical assessments
- Support apprentices in developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the trade

This is a part-time instructor position, $61.01/hour - $115.13/hour.
