If so, you may be interested to know that 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre Society is now hiring part-time Tutors to assist students in Grades 1-12 achieve success within their grade level.
In this role, you will work within a team of Tutors that will help students requiring extra educational support by creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that addresses their individual needs. You will use your outstanding verbal and written communication skills to liaise with parents, teachers, and others staff members to ensure the success of the students and the overall program.
About the role:
- Encourage and contribute to student’s learning, growth, and advancement.
- Provide individualized tutorial and/or instruction to approximately 3-4 students at a time.
- Work with students to improve their skills in certain subjects, according to their individual skill level.
- Develop curriculum and prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses (may include Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science).
- Prepare, administer, and mark assignments/tests to evaluate the student’s progress.
- Serve as a role-model for students.
- Collaborate and communicate with Teachers, Parents, and Students.
- Support volunteers by providing direction and monitoring.
To be successful in this position you should possess:
- A valid Alberta teaching certificate.
- Knowledge of the Alberta school curriculum and expected outcomes for students at various grade levels.
- Ability to apply knowledge of learning theories, techniques, and resources.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain at no cost.
- Current ASIST certification is an asset.
- Proficiency communicating in both English and French is an asset.
